UK Prime Minister David Cameron has not been shy about coming forward about his taste in music over the last few years - and it hasn't always worked out well for him, either.

After declaring his love for The Smiths, for example, the band's former guitarist Johnny Marr tweeted "David Cameron, stop saying that you like The Smiths, no you don't. I forbid you to like it."

When singer Nick Mulvey heard that the Tory PM enjoyed listening to his album when cooking, he said that he felt 'a bit sick'.

Now it's the turn of Philadelphia alt-rockers The War on Drugs, a band that Cameron said that his wife had introduced him to. "Samantha got me listening to a new thing called The War On Drugs. I can recommend it. They’re a band, you can find them on Spotify or iTunes – anyway, they’re good!"

<insert 'war on drugs' joke here>

The band released their most recent album 'Lost in the Dream' last year.
