Sorry to dash your hopes, Kinks fans, but it looks like that reunion and potential Glastonbury set for 2017 may not be as sure a bet as you'd thought.

Ray Davies had spoken over the weekend of his hopes of reuniting with his brother and former bandmates, and put out a public 'come and get us' message to Glasto boss Michael Eavis.

However, his brother Dave has poured cold water on the idea of a reunion in a Facebook post - although he did claim to be working on 'other stuff' with Ray.

"ME AND RAY have not spoken about Kinks showS at all- although weRE TRYING TO WORK TOGETHER ON OTHER STUFF and have worked on music together," it read. "In the meantime we both have albums finished. My album Open Road I did with my son Russ comes out in 2017! - Dave"

We have to hand it to them - they, err, really got us there, for a moment...
