Sound people everywhere rejoiced last year when it was announced that Crystal Castles (aka one of the worst bands in the history of music) were to stop making music together - but it appears that that joy has been short-lived as Ethan Kath, one-half of the electronica duo, has just released a new song.
It seems that the move hasn't gone down well with his former bandmate Alice Glass - who left the band last October - after Kath released the new song, 'Frail', with a bitchy statement referring to her as 'my former vocalist'.
"I think it can be empowering for her to be in charge of her own project," it read, referring to Glass's prospective solo career. "It should be rewarding for her considering she didn't appear on Crystal Castles' best known songs, (she's not on 'Untrust Us'. 'Not In Love', 'Vanished', 'Crimewave', 'Vietnam', 'Magic Spells', 'Knights', 'Air War', 'Leni', 'Lovers Who Uncover', 'Violent Youth', 'Reckless', 'Year of Silence', 'Intimate', '1991', 'Good Time', 'Violent Dreams' etc.). People often gave her credit for my lyrics and that was fine, I didn't care."
In a series of angry tweets (below), Glass responded by calling Kath 'manipulative'.
for the record, i wrote almost all of the lyrics in my former band and the vast majority of the vocal melodies

i was a founding member of crystal castles and shaped the sound and aesthetic from the very beginning

manipulative statements about my contributions to the band only reinforce the decision I made to move on to other things

The best thing for all involved, we reckon, would be a life ban on both members approaching any musical instrument. Problem solved.
If you absolutely must, however, you can listen to 'Frail' below. Don't say we didn't warn you.
