Mindy McCready, who became a country music sensation in the United States in the mid 90's for her albums Ten Thousand Angels and If I Don't Stay The Night, has been found dead in her home of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound according to various reports coming from the U.S. this morning. She was 37.

Police were called to her Arizona home at around 4pm local time yesterday where they found McCready's body on her front porch. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

McCready's final album I'm Still Here was released in 2010 but the singer will be best remembered for her chart-topping albums from the mid-nineties. She was known to have struggled with drug addiction and custody battles over her children. It is also understood that McCready had attempted suicide on two other occasions.

McCready's personal life was also the subject of intense scrutiny, having previously been linked with former Superman actor Dean Cain and with baseball star Roger Clemens, who she met when she was 15 and he was 28.

Her death comes just weeks after the suicide of David Wilson, her record producer and father to two of her sons.
