Fancy yourself a dab hand at the oul' songwriting? How are your Christmas songwriting skills, specifically? If you've got an idea or two lurking in the back of your mind, now's the time to implement it.

Christmas FM – the not-for-profit radio station that blasts non-stop festive merriment into Irish homes and workplaces each year – is launching this Saturday, November 29th and has put the call out for entries for its annual song contest.

The winner's song will receive extensive airplay on the station, free studio production time and a One4All giftcard for €500.

All you have to do is write and record an original Christmas-themed song and fill out the online entry form at ChristmasFM.com. The closing date for entries is midnight on Sunday, December 7th.

Run by volunteers, ChristmasFM will broadcast live from Dublin's Ballsbridge Hotel until St. Stephen's Day. It's available online, on UPC channel 900 and on various FM frequencies nationwide – see the site for details.

This year, 100% of profits from Christmas FM will be donated to Age Action. The station has raised over half a million euro for various charities since 2008.
