Chic and Nile Rodgers unable to perform at Westport Festival

Chic featuring Nile Rodgers have announced with disappointment that they will now not be able to make it to Mayo in June for the Westport Festival of Music and Performing Arts.

The agent for the band today advised the festival that due to a European festival booking that has not materialized, it is now not financially feasible for the band to travel to Ireland in June to take part in the festival.

The band's agent said: "CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers are scheduled to perform at a London festival on June 17th and were hoping to take part in a French festival on June 21st, which would have allowed them to travel to Ireland for the weekend of June 23rd and 24th. CHIC will now not be taking part in the French festival and it is therefore not financially feasible for the band to travel to Ireland at this time. Nile Rodgers and the band thank their Irish fans for their understanding in this matter and look forward to performing for them soon. Nile Rodgers is very excited about the Westport Festival of Music and Performing Arts and we are optimistic that we will able to participate in 2013."
