It may be long sold out, but the Electric Picnic line-up continues to get bigger and better for the lucky folks who happened to get their mitts on a ticket.

The newest addition to the arena is the Hazel Wood, which promises a programme of 'otherworldly goings-on'.

One of them is an exclusive performance by Cathy Davey, who will be playing her brand new album for the first time all the way through with her band on Friday night. She said: "Because this album was written in the forest I had fairly unrealistic notions of its first performance being in the woods. But Electric Picnic and Melvin [Benn, of Festival Republic] have made it happen, I'm beyond excited. Maybe some of the creatures in the album will make an appearance!”

Other performances planned for the Hazel Wood include experimental theatre by the Footsbarn Travelling Theatre; Twisted Tales hosted by The Gaiety School of Acting, including a series of workshops and performances; Late Night TV Talk Show by The Lords of Strut; Mary Mary by Púca Puppet’s; mask making workshops by Behind the Mask, festive chic with the help of The Costume Mistress; family circus Fossett's, as well as Shadow Puppetry by Javanese Gamelan.

Music will come in the form of instrumental and chamber music by The Melting Pot ensemble, orchestrated by Siobhra Quinlan.

The "AFTER DARK in The HAZEL WOOD" programme will see live acts, musicians, DJs & performances including the aforementin Cathy Davey, Jack O’Rourke, Exit Pursued By a Bear, Carried By Waves, MKAI, DJs Jim X Comet with his David Bowie Tribute set, Fish Go Deep and Home Beat's Emmet Condon, as well as a special performance of the audio/visual/orchestral extravaganza WE LIVED IN CITIES.

As Electric Picnic draws to a close on Sunday evening, the costumed characters, woodland creatures and otherworldly beings from across the festival site will lead a procession across the whole festival site before they gather in The Hazel Wood for the wrap party to end all wrap parties, and dance the night away to the accelerating tones of Yurodny Ensemble.

See you there...
