Beastie Boy Diagnosed with Cancer, Postpones Tour
21 July 2009The Beastie Boys new album and summer tour has been postponed on the back of the unfortunate news that band member Adam Yauch AKA MCA is suffering from cancer is his left salivary gland.
"About two months ago I started feeling this lump in my throat, like you would feel if had swollen glands, so I didn't really think it was anything. But then when we were over in Europe doing promotion, I called my doctor and saw him when I got back about two weeks ago and they did tests. I have a form of cancer in the gland", said Yauch. "I'm going to have to have surgery, probably next week. The good news is that they did scans of my whole body and it's only localised in this one area and it's not in a place that affects my voice."
Hot Sauce Committee Part I was set for a 15th September release date. Yauch is expected to make a full recovery.
