After days of speculation, hearsay and conjecture a decision has finally been made regarding the Garth Brooks concerts in Croke Park and it's bad news for the 400,000 of you who bought tickets and for Aiken promotions who we understand to be uninsured against any potential losses.

A press release from Aiken Promotions reached us at 3.45pm this afternoon.

It read as follows:

It is with great regret that Aiken Promotions today announce that the 5 concert Garth Brooks Comeback Special Event at Croke Park has been cancelled. No concerts will take place.

The ticket return process will be outlined tomorrow.

Aiken Promotions have exhausted all avenues regarding the staging of this event.

We are very disappointed for the 400,000 fans who purchased tickets for The Garth Brooks Comeback Special Event.

We will bring you information on the refund information (and the myriad other issues which will arise as a result of this) over the coming days.
