Rapper Azealia Banks is no stranger to controversy, having racked up more Twitter beefs with her fellow artists than a butcher's front window.

Now, however, the New Yorker has managed to insult an entire nation of people - just days after she finished touring there.

Banks recently played her first gig at Australia's Splendour in the Grass festival over the weekend, but it would seem that she didn't enjoy it a whole lot. When responding to a radio DJ who congratulated her on her performance, she tweeted: "because in all actuality. You guys are terrible crowds to play for. You're violent and belligerent and I simply will not put my safety at risk. I would've walked off stage had someone thrown something."

To add insult to injury, she then added "plus you guys are too far away and honestly, the show guarantees are never really worth the trip."

The tweets have stirred up quite a response in Australia, which she first called "so beautiful" and then tweeted the below:
