Amy Winehouse has featured heavily in the news over the last few months, largely thanks to the acclaimed documentary about her life, 'Amy'.
As such, the people behind the 'Vinyl & Wine' listening parties - where albums are played on high-quality Cloney Audio soundsystems, and wine is quaffed while you listen - are having a listening party for Winehouse's best-known album 'Back to Black'.
It'll take place in The Liquor Rooms on Wellington Quay (beside The Clarence Hotel) on August 30th from 5pm.
As well as the album playback, there will also be a panel discussion with Universal Ireland MD Mark Crossingham, as well as Dee Reedy of radio station TXFM who will chat about Winehouse's legacy, the production of 'Back to Black' and the impact she continues to have on music, four years after her death.
"After the sadness of the excellent Amy movie, it was a no-brainer to organise an event to celebrate Back to Black and the once-in-a-generation talent that was Amy Winehouse," said Mark Whelan, one of the Vinyl & Wine organisers. "Listening to the album on vinyl on Cloney Audio’s spectacular system is going to be pretty moving. And that’s what we want – people to be moved by her music, as opposed to all of the controversy and tragedy that surrounded her personal life”.
