Almost fifty years since they're first performance, The Rolling Stones proved last night at the NME Awards that they're still well capable of hanging with the new guys, after the picked up gongs for Best Live Band and Best Documentary for their film Crossfire Hurricane.

Elsewhere, Florence Welch added another trophy to her ever-growing collection by picking up the award for Best Solo Artist. Welch also provided vocals to Calvin Harris' 'Sweet Nothing', which was named Best Dancefloor Anthem.

Johnny Marr was recognised for his contribution to music by winning NME's Godlike Genius awards. The Cribs - with whom Marr was once acquainted - took the award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

It wasn't a good night for One Direction fans though, they were named Worst Band and Harry Styles was declared Villain of the Year.
