Aerosmith released a statement the other day explaining why cancellations of their final tour had been deemed necessary.

The rockers are on the South American leg of their 'Farewell' tour but revealed that due to 'medical issues' relating to frontman Steven Tyler, they had been forced to pull the final four dates.

A statement read: “Unfortunately, due to unexpected medical issues, lead singer, Steven Tyler, is seeking immediate care and has been advised by his doctors that he cannot travel or perform at this time. Therefore, the last four shows of the South American tour will be cancelled. Steven is expected to make a full recovery. With proper rest and treatment he will be back on his feet soon rocking the world."

Now, it has been reported in The Boston Globe that the 69-year-old Tyler suffered a seizure before the band's Sao Paulo gig, although the band have not confirmed or denied the report.

Tyler released his own statement saying 'I am not in a life threatening condition, but I need to deal with this right away.'
