A month later, Mariah Carey is still explaining that New Year's Eve performance

Mariah Carey's gigantic and very public f***-up at the New Year's Eve Celebration in New York might have died down somewhat, but not for her.

In an interview with AP, Carey yet again tried to explain what happened on the night in question. As she tells it, her earpiece failed and her mic wasn't working, which is why she had no idea what was happening or where she was supposed to come in on any of her songs.

While she didn't bring up her claim that the producers of the show set up her intentionally to fail, Carey did point out that there seems to be one rule for her and one rule for every other singer that has a public malfunction. "I don’t know what they want me to do! It’s like I’m the only one that has to make five million comebacks... For me there’s different rules, I don’t know why. I don’t know why it’s not okay that I was just like victimized and vilified by the situation."
