Garth Brooks may well be in talks to play at Donald Trump's inauguration next month if rumours are to be believed, but one name that has been confirmed is that of Jackie Evancho.

You're probably wondering 'Who the hell is Jackie Evancho?'. In short, she's a 16-year-old classical-crossover singer who appeared on America's Got Talent in 2010, eventually finishing as runner-up. Think along the lines of (a young) Charlotte Church.

She'll be singing the national anthem at the inauguration in Washington on January 20th, telling The Today Show: "I'm so excited. It's going to be awesome."

The news was confirmed by the Inaugural Committee yesterday, saying "We're delighted to have Jackie Evancho performing the National Anthem at the 58th Presidential Inaugural Ceremony. As the youngest solo artist to ever go platinum, she is a true role model and inspiration for people young and old in our country and around the globe. Jackie represents the best and the brightest of America."

Rather presciently, the youngster's first mainstream pop single was released earlier this year and was called 'Apocalypse'. We're guessing she's not going to sing that, however more suitable it may be for the occasion.
