A performance by Belgian act 2manydjs scheduled for Cork's Opera House last night was cancelled after a bomb threat was called into the venue at about 7pm. Gardai subsequently carried out a large scale search of the venue before determining that the threat was a hoax.

Up to 800 people were expected in the venue prior to the start of the gig at 10pm but the theatre wasn't in use when the bomb threat was called in. Gardai then liased with management and, with the help of a specially trained sniffer dog, concluded that the venue was safe.

The Cork Opera House indicated on their Twitter account that they intend to reschedule the gig but no official information has been released thus far.

Gardai said that they are attempting to find the source of the hoax phone call.
