IRISH GIG OF THE YEAR: COLDPLAY @ Croke Park

Whether your ears are acclimatised to Chris Martin's often-irritating ramblings or not, there's no question that his band knows how to put on a damned fine show. That's why they came out on top of our Gig of the Year poll with a whopping 21.5% of the total vote - and anyone who was at Croke Park in July for their colourful, excellent live show won't begrudge them, either. In second place was Guns N' Roses at Slane with 15.8%, while U2's Croke Park gig came in third at 10.5%. In fourth and fifth place were Radiohead at the 3Arena (5.1%) and Arcade Fire's Malahide Castle gig (4.2%). A special mention must go to Eddie Vedder's 3Arena gig, which wasn't on the shortlist but which many of our readers hailed as one of the year's best.

1. Coldplay @ Croke Park
2. Guns N' Roses @ Slane
3. U2 @ Croke Park
4. Radiohead @ 3Arena
5. Arcade Fire @ Malahide Castle
