The Devil Inside: Movie Clip
Director: William Brent Bell
Starring: Evan Helmuth, Fernanda Andrade, Simon Quarterman
Details: US/87mins 16
The "found footage" sub-genre has quickly become tiresome, and the third film executed in such a manner released in so many weeks is by far the poorest. While Chronicle found a new slant on the superhero genre and Project X embraced it in the right spirit, this exorcism thriller is an amateurish retread.
Opening in 1989 at a still fresh crime scene, we find that a woman has gone and killed three members of her church. Naturally thrown into the nuthouse, it turns out that it was not her that off'd the aforementioned Christians, but rather the... wait for it DEVIL INSIDE. Said unhinged woman's daughter, Isabella (Fernanda Andrade) decides to set about finding out what happened, and grabs a camera man and heads on over to Italy to find some cross wielding badass priests to perform an exorcism.
The hilarious tagline to this piece of shit declares "the movie the Vatican didn't want you to see." Who knew the spiritual powers that be were so on the money with their cinematic observations? Ripping off everything from The Last Exorcism to (naturally) The Exorcist, and most brazenly, Paranormal Activity, there are many things wrong with The Devil Inside, but the main one is that it's essentially one big cliché, wrapped in a blanket of jarry handheld camera work. You just can't make this type of movie with a straight face anymore unless you're doing something innovative and this is everything but.
Performance wise there's really not a lot the cast can do with the material they've been given. They've obviously been told to play everything straight up, but that results in far too many inappropriate chuckles.
Awful, just awful. The only fright you'll get from this will be when you're woken by the cinema lights going up.

The Exorcist set a high standard for films about exorcism and could be regarded as the benchmark against which all similar films should be regarded. At the opposite end of the scale, we have The Devil Inside. It's a strong contender for not only the worst film of the year, but also the worst horror film of the year. It's an abomination in every sense of the word. Its set-up is that of a faux documentary set in Rome rather than a found-footage film. A young woman engages two rogue Roman Catholic priests to investigate her mother's apparent possession, in the hope of understanding a terrible crime her mother committed 20 years earlier. Cue lots of very amateurish acting, some ropey restraints on victims, a ridiculous amount of writhing/screaming/twisting and an ending that is frankly insulting to the intelligence. Memo to exorcists: driving a car while performing an exorcism is never advisable. Whatever possessed the filmmakers to make this film or even think it was worth releasing is beyond me.

Hey, If This Is Rated ' 1 Star ' then, That Means Its Not A Good Movie Right? Because The Trailer Makes it Look Pure Awesome, That Means It SHOULD Be rated Like, 2-4 Stars? (My Opinion)

Don't be fooled by the trailers for The Devil Inside. It's just really bad. You can make a great trailer out of a bad film or lead people to believe that they'll be seeing something particular when the film itself is very different in tone. For example, The Grey. The trailer sold that film as an action film, with Liam Neeson facing off against wolves. That's not what the film is about at all. It's a film about the survival instinct and looking death in the face.

Truly the worst film I have seen in many many years. And that is saying something with some of the films that have been brought out over the past few years. I can't believe I sat and watched (when not nodding off ) and also spent money seeing this. People please save your money, I don't make a habit of letting myself be ripped off but this film did.

you my friend are an a**hole. The first screening was in a church just to reasure people that they werent going to be scared outof their wits. And how many people witness a f**king exorcism in their life? A handful. And is there not one thought spared for the writer who your ripping out of. Or even the cast and crew who would have struggled enough to get the money for the film in the first place. I would bet that if you even witness an actual exorcism you'd be quicker to get on your knees than critic some poor f**k who only tried to share a f**king story. Oh and this exorcism s**t is real but ignorance is such a blissful thing in many a nations mind.

Yes money is spent making these film, actors god love them think it might be their big break, what I don't agree with is having to spend my hard earned money to watch this crap. There should be a ratings system in place for a board to rate films and the public pay according to the rating it gets
