The Rugrats Go Wild

So what gives here? Could The Wild Thornberrys and the Rugrats be meeting in some weird cloning experiment and wreaking havoc on the world at large? Sadly, for those of us in the audience above the age of ten, this is not the sort of encounter that the makers of these two Nickelodeon television series have envisaged. But never mind, as the first major cross pollination of the two megabucks franchises may mean that time is running out for both of them, allowing parents a moment's peace. (The Wild Thornberrys movie only came out a couple of months ago.) Anyways, this time around, the Rugrats - who include Tommy, Chuckie, Angelica, in case you were wondering - are shipwrecked on a desert island. But help is at hand when the hapless Rugmeisters discover that the wildlife sorts, the Thornberrys, are also on the island, making a film on a rare leopard. Much nonsense and lame wisecracks (most of them for the benefit of accompanying adults) are launched before things are concluded satisfactorily for everyone.

As you may have already guessed from the tone of this review, although The Rugrats Go Wild isn't a deplorable film, there isn't too much to get excited by if you fall outside the targeted demographic. Sure, you could do worse (yes, What A Girl Wants, that means you), but The Rugrats Goes Wild is hardly gripping viewing, either. Bring the little ones to Spy Kids 3 instead.
