Some people are about to feel really old. 1989 was the year this originally came out. I was nine, I had it on the Commodore 64. I would play it after watching Dempsey's Den. Yeah Ian was still there… that's how old you are!

Since then there have been a number of incarnations of the classic platformer (in actual fact the originator of the genre). However, they have all been sequels, the best of which was The Sands of Time for PS2. This is, however, not a sequel. It is an all new Prince of Persia, and an all new Prince.

What will stand out for you are the visuals. Simply put, they are stunning. They have opted for a cel-shaded look, making the graphics look almost hand drawn. This suits the tone perfectly. Gameplay, on the other hand, did not get the same sensitive treatment, and unfortunately it just doesn't flow as nicely as the likes of Assasin's Creed.

The original is available on the Playstation Network €9.99 for those of you left feeling nostalgic.
