Sorry Gavin, I wouldn't entirely aggree. Yes, the Joe and Boots relationship is kind of forgotten about as the film progresses. But I think the film is about Joes relationships with everybody. The wh**es, the Assistant, his Agent, Boots, Ruth, Evelyn his Mom etc. Boots death is simply a catalyst for Joe to re-assess all his relationships..and perhaps where it all went wrong. This film has two of the most memorable scenes I have ever come accross. 1). The Restaurant scene in Hollywood with is Agent (Mark Strong) and 2). the Roxy Music - "If there is something" scene. Giving the film 4 Stars.
