Don't look in the basement of this creepy old house... you might just find some nasty little critters with evil intentions. That's the premise of this Guillermo Del Toro-sponsored remake of a 70s TV movie. Even a seasoned horror fan like me admits to not having heard of the original - perhaps I need to be American and of a certain age. Still, this new version plays like a cross between a haunted house movie and Gremlins. What it most reminds me of though is the last segment of Cat's Eye, in which a tiny, nasty little troll torments a little girl. The new Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark certainly isn't for children and has some decent scares and a few shocks. It's not the best horror film of the year, but it's certainly an effective, if not entirely memorable, 98 minutes in the dark...

I'm sorry but this movie ''the best horror'' in a long time, who ever said that CLEARLY LIED!!! I was totally bored watching this, basically balls of FLUFF running around talking killing people cutting up clothes, oh i don't know anymore!! They reminded me of a killer hamster, Pure disappointment!! But thats just me, each to your own i guess :)

Good scary flick where you will spend most of the time screaming at the child "stop wandering off on your own" and at the adults "quit drugging her and putting her to bed in a dark room!"

Not at all scary as they introduced the basement rat type things way too early, they should have left us wondering what they were for longer. Storyline wasn't good at all...instantly forgetable!
