Like the recent Thunderpants, Big Fat Liar is one of those films which critics older than 12 hate reviewing. Why? Well, it's obvious that anyone over that particular age is not the targeted demographic, and most of it will zoom over their heads. For what it is (a comedy with an underlying moral message of 'don't mess with the kids'), Big Fat Liar is passable stuff that will probably have younger viewers rolling in the aisles. Malcolm in the Middle star Frankie Muniz plays Jason Shepherd, a young man with a very active imagination. After a series of events conspire to him leaving his school assignment in the back of Hollywood producer, Marty Wolf's (Giamatti) limo, his parents believe that he's telling another porkie. However, when said producer uses that assignment as the basis for his next script, Shepherd is astonished. Believing that the only way to win back his parents' trust is to make Wolf admit the truth, he sets out with his best pal, Kaylee (Bynes). A sort of Home Alone goes to Los Angeles; Big Fat Liar does exactly what it says on the tin. And while that may be enough for the kids, adults will soon tire of the overacting, smart assed quips and all cute young actors.
