Back to Normandy
Director: Nicolas Philibert
Starring: Claude Herbert
Details: France / 113mins (TBC)
**PREVIEW**
This will undoubtedly get a very limited release here, but if it's anything like Philibert's previous outing, the gorgeous 'Etre et Avoir', it'll be worth making an effort to see. Back to Normandy is a documentary chronicling a filmmaker's return to the Normandy region of France, thirty years after working on a movie based on a local homicide which happened in 1835. The main roles were played by local peasants, and Philibert seeks the 'actors' out to find what has become of them. There's a twist at the end, too, when Philibert finally finds what became of the peasant who played the main role in his movie. Expect beautiful scenery and honest, unembellished filmmaking.
