As with most high-budget blockbusters, a game is usually released simultaneously, and is, usually, rubbish. Wolverine, however, is actually rather good. In fact, if reviews of the movie are to be believed, this may be one time the game actually exceeds its bigger brother.
Needless to say, you play supped-up, genetically altered, Logan, aka Wolverine, and after the pretty lavish intro movie, you immediately get the gist of what this game is really about: blood, gore, violence, and Hugh Jackman's overly masculine grunts.
The game is incredibly easy to pick up and play, and after a couple of minutes I was pulling of some pretty impressive looking combos – simultaneously throwing a bad guy off a cliff while placing his accomplice on a conveniently placed spike, for one (Note the rating, folks, this ain't for kids – and it's all the better for it).
The simplicity in gameplay is the main reason the game is so addictive, and yes, it is repetitive sometimes, and you will complete it pretty quickly, but when you do, Hard-Mode is unlocked and I think many would opt to return for a second run, which is a testament to how enjoyable the whole blade-swinging experience really is.
It looks better in some places than it does in others, but, I have to say, watching Wolverine heal himself in-game is rather cool.
