The Hot Chick
Let's get straight to the point here - if you think Adam Sandler's uglier, less talented sidekick, Rob Schneider (The Animal, Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo) is a very funny man, chances are that you'll enjoy this comedy. If, like me, you find this hideously overrated comedian nothing more than a blight on humanity, you'd be best advised to steer a very wide berth of The Hot Chick. Very wide. Schneider plays a low rent thief, who along with cheerleader sort, Jessica (McAdams) runs afoul of an ancient curse. Somehow exchanging bodies, Jessica has to deal with being stuck in the bulk of a short, hairy, thirty-something year-old man, while the thief has to make do with the sleek body of Jessica. Convincing her best pal April (Faris) that she's really Jessica, our gal/guy sets out to get her body back.
One of those comedies which overstates its own importance by attempting to have some sort of moral message, it's no great surprise to note that Schneider wrote The Hot Chick. Indeed, the film is little more than a vehicle for his brand of physical comedy and nobody else is given a role that bears any scrutiny. Just to cap it all off, Sandler turns up in a cameo role as a stoner, but his lazy repetition of the same gag makes for very dull viewing. A bit like the film, really.
