The Deep End

Release Date: Monday 30th November -0001

Running time: 99 minutes

Genuinely suspenseful drama in which Tilda Swinton plays Margaret Hall, a woman who will do anything to hold her respectable family together. When her son, Beau (Tucker) appears to have committed a heinous crime, she decides to deal with the problem herself, attempting to destroy any evidence that could link it to her family. But when a callous blackmailer (Visnjic) turns up, and asks for $5,000 to keep quiet, things get complicated.

Relatively low budget; The Deep End is nonetheless as fine a drama, as you're likely to see all year. Although it clocks in a relatively meager 99 minutes, there's no concession to cliché here, as the well-woven and intricate plot is powered along by the stupendous central performance of Swinton. It might be a mite too slow moving for some, but this is dramatic filmmaking at its best. Drop everything and see it. Now.
