Only a week after the Little Polar Bear, and another movie is already eying up its title as the most bland and inoffensive of the year. This time we get the first big screen excursion from Winnie the Pooh peripheral character, Piglet. After he's excluded from a plan to liberate some honey from a beehive, Piglet believes that his friends - Winnie, Tigger, Rabbit and Eeyore - have no time for him and he goes off to mope. A storm breaks out and the gang realise that they've been horrid to Piglet, so they go to apologise. When they can't locate him, they nab Piglet's Book of Memories to help them in their search. Reading the book, they discover what a big part the little porky guy has played in all their lives. Ah bless.
Truthfully, if you're over the age of 10, it's rather difficult to get worked up about Piglet's Big Movie one way or the other. The old school animation is fine (if a little wholesome), things pan out precisely as expected and everyone goes home with a satisfied smile on their faces. And so too should your kids. But just make sure you get them out of the theatre before you're confronted with the horrors of MOR warbler Carly Simon, who turns up at the very end in a live action musical video. Trust me, it'll give everyone nightmares.
