Fielder-Civil Officially Defunct, Shocker
Chin up, Blakey boy; your missus may have been cavorting in the Caribbean with her ex-fellah while you were behind bars, but at least Arena magazine rates you... the most "witless" individual of 2007, huzzah! One Arena writer said: "Blake is literally the worst husband ever. If your wife is partial to a nice bit of heroin then you should probably help her out by abstaining from drugs yourself and not stand on the sidelines chanting 'plunge it down you Zulu warrior!' or whatever it is junkies shout to egg each other on!" It's probably for the best that said Arena writer remains nameless. 'Grace Kelly' singer Mika took fourth spot because of his ability to "make the nation rip off their ears with wretched, panicked fingernails and fill the bloodied holes with Polyfilla". The top five was rounded off by British TV star Jeremy Kyle, who caused controversy last year by allowing a paedophile to boast about his crimes on his daytime chat show. Here is the top en British Anti-Icons in full:
1. Blake Fielder-Civil (AKA Amy Winehouse's husband)
2. Banksy (artist)
3. Frank Lampard (England soccer star)
4. Mika
5. Jeremy Kyle
6. Peter Andre (singer and husband of glamour model Jordan)
7. Ziggy ('Big Brother' contestant)
8. Prince
9. Richard Hammond (I'm sorry but that's sacrilege)
10. Ant and Dec (TV presenting duo)

Mom's movie review
If you want to see a good Halloween movie with the kids, don't go to this one. Animated kids' movies should be animated kids' movies. The movie started off with a kid watching tv, his mom asking what he was watching, he replied 'sex and violence', and the mom says 'ok'. What are we teaching our kids? Then, at the end, the 'love interest' teenaged boy ends up announcing to his teenaged girl admirer that he's homosexual and she could join him and his boyfriend on a date! Look, I am not against gay rights, have signed petitions for gay rights, etc. But, I am not for 'sexing' our kids. After that, it was non-stop scare with not enough "light" funny stuff to break it up for younger kids. Whatever happened to good Halloween movies, like Ghostbuster, Hocus Pocus, or Nightmare before Christmas?

To the poor woman who left the review on ParaNorman... first of all, it is listed as a PG movie, not G. Secondly, and this is important, I am not against women's rights, I have signed petitions for women's righs, etc. If those rights were not in existence, you wouldn't be able to leave idiotic discriminatory reviews of movies. This movie was excellent and it's about time we see content in media which infers that it is okay to be gay, even if you are a teenaged boy. Sorry lady, maybe if Mitt Romney wins he can help transport you back to the 1950's where there was no such thing as homosexuality and everything was all pickled rainbows and husbands beating their wives only when they deserved it. I am deeply offended by your review and I hope that none of your kids are gay because you obviously will sign petitions for their "rights" but what else? Hopefully you won't blame this movie.

And by the way, all of the "good" movies you have listed in your review have sexual references, all of them blatent. So what ever it is you meant by your biggoted verbage of 'sexing' our kids, you are apparently contributing. You should be more aware of what you say. You are purely hateful and misinformed.

This movie was fantastic and made me wish I had children to watch it with. Like any good children's movie, such as Pixar's many excellent films, Paranorman is replete with subtle inuendo and references to keep an older audience laughing, but also well timed slapstick and more family friendly jokes to keep the kids entertained. Critics of the movie's agenda need to get with the times, as the film makes many points regarding stereotyping that are neither sexually explicit nor out of line. The film is clearly a loving homage to the horror genre and seeks to embrace horror/suspense tropes while challenging them. Earlier in the film a young girl challenges the stereotype of portraying witches as ugly old crones, and later in the movie a "beefy, dumb jock" announces he has a boyfriend who "loves chick flicks." I'm sorry if your children are too confused to understand that there are homosexuals in this world, maybe your kids are slow or you are simply incapable of explaining that love and attraction are multifaceted and complex. Please don't vote. That said the movie does unfortunately fall victim to some typecasting as the only character of color is a rather bafoonish and sometimes sassy police woman, the main female character is depicted as vapid and cruel, and there are probably enough movies about white, middle-class, men/boys. Still the movie's overall message is one of learning not to fear those that are different, be they overweight gingers or supposed witches. This lesson of tolerance and respect is made ever more poignent considering the sad history of the Salem Witch Trials. Overall, though not perfect, Para-Norman far exceeds expectations, fans of A Nightmare Before Christmas, and other "children's" Holloween movies are sure to enjoy, young and old alike.

To troix678- I'm pretty sure that you're suppose to be reviewing the movie and not someone else's comment in a movie review forum. If you would have even halfway read the woman's comment, she was saying that she does not like SEX in children's movies. Her point WAS NOT that she did not like GAY SEX in kids' movies, but that she did not like SEX, whether it be HETEROSEXUAL or HOMOSEXUAL. Believe it or not, but the whole world does not center around gay rights. This was a concerned mother trying to warn other parents about sex in movies, this was not someone trying to make a stand against gay rights. Call me hateful or whatever, but I think you just made yourself look like an idiot. Have a good day!

Thank you mom review for the honest review. I was just leaving to take my 6 Year old granddaughter to see this and we will not be going. I don't think such young children need any more confusion in their young lives. Adding alternative lifestyles and sex to their already media influenced minds is something I can still prevent them from. Sounds like an inappropriate rating and should be PG-13. Just another example of Hollywood trying to insert immorality in the minds of our youngest.
