After tackling the reasonably heavy material of Erin Brockovich and Traffic, Steven Soderbergh moves into more mainstream territory with Ocean's 11. A remake of the 1960 Rat Pack movie of the same name, George Clooney takes over Frank Sinatra's role as Danny Ocean, a convicted robber who has just got parole. As soon as he tastes freedom, Danny hooks up with his old cohort, Dusty Ryan (Brad Pitt) and together the two men set about masterminding the biggest robbery in Vegas history - relieving three major casino vaults (all owned by Garcia's character, Terry Benedict) of their $160million-plus contents. The sight of Messrs Clooney, Pitt, Damon and Garcia will undoubtedly appeal to large numbers (ladies, you know who you are), but for those not salivating at the thought of the world's sexiest men sharing screen time, Ocean's 11 is still a very effective and agreeable heist movie. Light, breezy and played mostly for laughs by the charismatic performers, Ocean's 11 is a fun, slick affair, which what it lacks in depth, makes up for in pure entertainment. Just don't expect to remember a whole lot about it afterwards.
