After an abortive suicide attempt, Susannah signs herself into an institution for rest, recuperation and therapy. Girl, Interrupted isn't exactly Spice World meets One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest but it isn't exactly a thoughtful meditation on mental deviance either. The wildly melodramatic - and utterly unconvincing - finale even undermines Angelina Jolie's Oscar nomination.
