Playing: The DebtNot that you would know it, but this is a remake of a 2007 Israeli film. I'd be quite intrigued to see the original some day, as I think this English-language remake is lacking in some departments (Sam Worthington is as miscast here as he was in Last Night - maybe he should stick to action and fantasy films). All the same though, it's a solid, mature, well-thought out thriller that packs an emotional punch. The one thought that left me as the credits rolled was how much the past haunts the present. If it haunts the present, then it will affect the future. Perhaps that is the final thought that director John Madden wants audiences to take from the film.
