  Reminded me a lot of 'Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' .. isn't it funny of how Hollywood brings out films that are near replica's of each other around the same times remember 'Troy' and 'Alexander', 'the Prestige' and 'the Illusionist' and recently 'Lawless' and 'Gangster Squad', etc etc... Anyway back to the Quartet. Its got some fine performances (Billy Connolly, Maggie Smith, Michael Gambon) and this is probably enough to go and see it. The story/plot feels paper thin and under cooked. This film feels long and drags its belly a bit in the middle and still feels like it was edited fairly mercilessly at the expense of the storyline. My advice enjoy the 'rattle tattle' between the actors and never mind the story. 3 Stars. might have been better light (to say the least).
