Drive was a masterpiece that was really badly marketed. Really looking forward to this.

I agree with Bertaut ''Drive'' was sadly underplayed and this now at last OGF a film I really look forward to seeing as not many times this year +- only Django was worth going out for.

Saw it in Geneva. Awful, awful film. Although some people clapped at the end so certainly one to divide the audience. Kristen Scott Thomas was its one saving grace. And ladies, this is not one to go to just to gawk at Gosling. Think it's one for the boys only.

I think this film is too deep for plebs. I believe plebs should stick to their attention disorder mindless 'flicks'. Really saddened you can't enjoy cinema. :(

I was very impressed with Only God Forgives. It's one of the year's most distinctive films, but I can see how it will divide people right down the middle. It's more in tone with Nicolas Winding Refn's earlier film Valhalla Rising than Drive, so it'll be interesting to see how people react.

Is there anything more yawn worthy than a movie snob? Bore off Jordi...

haven't seen it yet. may give it a go. agree with SJ as well on the movie snob comment. pretentiousness achieves nothing except having people dislike you. saw drive. wasn't that impressed to be honest. the film was marketed well. a shame the product itself didn't live up to the hype.

I was disapointed. As cinematograhpy goes, it is a feast for the eyes. But much like a perfectly wrapped gift, it's whats wrapped inside that really counts as a good gift, and frankly, Only God Forgives is a perfeclty wrapped pair of old socks. This is a case of having a storyline, but not having a plot. Sometimes, I felt like the movie was over-directed (perfectly choreographed hand-washing, pre-manourvered walks, looks etc). Kirsten-Scott Thomas saves the film somewhat - as she is the only one given enough dialogue to actually contribute (plus her character is interesting, but the sotry fails her). And @Jordi This is not a "deep" film. There is ZERO character development for one thing. Maybe your the pleb, just being dazzled by the nice colours on screen.

"Doubleletter" has described this movie to perfection. In my opinion its overly pretentious. Okay it's easy on the eye but a tortured watch overall.

Interesting to look at, maybe, but leaves something to be desired in the story department if you ask me.

Don't think that God would forgive this film. Thought it might calm down after the start but left during the interrogation scene where the cop slices through his victim's eye. Pity because Drive was my favorite film of 2011 but as a director you always need to know where the line is. Will need to do some research before watching another Winding Refn film.

This was an absolutely AWFUL movie!! I really enjoyed Drive and went in hoping this would be something similar. But I was sorely disappointed. Easily the worst film of 2013.

Dont watch this movie it is just gore for gores sake. I've been to Thailand many times and it really only shows the ugliest side possible for one. This movie tries so hard to be deep, trippy and meaningful, it fails it is completely pretentious. Its pretending to be a movie like old boy or something great its not. the story line is so very simple and could be told in five seconds. Ryan Gosling is a complete perv and women abuser yet seems to have some standards as he doesn't kill the father of raped girl who killed his brother. So his mother gets someone to do it and kill the cop that influenced the father to kill. The cop kills everyone involved. Theres some weird under plot of Oedipus kill father to be with mother witch could of be a good plot maybe if used well. Hate how someone here said only a guys movie girls watch gore too if you mean its brain dead then you are right. main point being the plot is simple told in a dream like sequence for no reason tries to be confusing and elaborate fails epic

Gore for gore's sake in an attempt to disguise a nonexistent plot. Very disappointed.

I found this film to be a tad tedious if not pretentious. Some of the scenes work well but they are just for effect. Alas, the effect overall is incoherence. Nicholas Winding Refn needs to take a good look at the narrative of his films. Some scenes and characters undo or contradict what has gone before. This would indicate Winding Refn is out of his depth. The Karaoke routine is cringe worthy; at times I wondered was I looking at a Thai Daniel O?Donnell.

Watched this a couple of times. Actually does get better with the second watch. Kinda got more what the director was at. think the torture scene was a bit too much. Liked the themes about God. Was the mother meant to represent the devil? Anyway I think it was an interesting film. Well worth a watch.
