i love the mammy of comedy
Starting a review of Mrs Browns Boys by quoting a "sensible piece" from "the Guardian" is enough to prove you shouldn't be the person reviewing this film. Full house in the cinema last night. Lots of laugh out loud moments.EVERYONE in the cinema seemed to enjoy this movie a lot. Well worth a watch - 4 starts from me.
I don't understand the above logic. If movie reviews are only to be written by those who have a penchant for the movies they're employed to review, then every movie review (and music, book, food, art, etc) will always and forever be five stars. For everything. Across the board. Get an Adam Sandler fan to review Adam Sandler movies. Get a lover of big robots to review big robot movies. Get a One Direction lover to review a One Direction album. Five stars. Two Robotic Thumbs Up. Bst Albm Eva xx :)
Arguable the worst movie I've gone to see @ a cinema, up there with broken flowers & hangover 2! I read an article that said it wasn't funny, it wasn't unfunny but anti funny, I cannot recall a funny moment, just bad acting & cringe worthy humour! I wouldnt advise anyone with half a brain to watch & if you do good look in lasting longer that the 40 mins we lasted.
I'm a fan of the TV comedy series Mrs Brown's Boys - arguably a recent convert because I never liked Brendan O'Carroll's brand of stand-up comedy before, so was reluctant to tune into this. But with the whole nation talking about it I finally gave in and sat through one episode, and was won over by O'Carroll's Mrs Brown.....and mainly because it works with very good support cast. So, that's why I thought the movie would be equally as hilarious - not the case. His sister 'Winnie' is probably the best of them all...she's true to form and a natural on big screen, whereas the others seemed strained and not comfortable for a 95-minute movie - it could have been cut to 80 mins or less! Usual gags that were repeated once too often....and the Russian plot was too ridiculous.....whoever told Shane Byrne it was good idea to play Russian Mafia hard man should be shot! Apart from no speaking part, he's dressed in black suit with shades and the signature mullet....the barrister with Tourettes could have been used to more effect.....he was funny .....but alas to say Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie should be confined to DVD! Major disappointment.
I've never seen the TV show. Brendan O'Carroll seems like a lovely fella and I love how he uses friends and family in his work BUT sweet Jesus, this has to be one of the worst films ever made. Its almost completely laugh free, hopelessly amateurish, incredibly lazy (the screenplay feels less like a first draft and more like a first thought while sitting on the toilet) and also scores the dubious honour of being a "comedy" that doesn't know how to tell a joke (numerous examples but check out the one about the explosives handling Parkinson's sufferer that's completely mistimed and falls over dead with a dull hollow thud). I know humour is subjective but this film seems to be made for people who don't have a sense of humour. Even worse, it seems to be made BY people with no sense of humour. Prior to this, The Love Punch was my least favourite movie of 2014 but Mrs Brown makes The Love Punch look like Citizen Kane. It's that bad. No, it's actually much worse.
It was a big mistake for Mrs. Brown to turn from the successful TV series and try and make a foray into the world of movies. The former I enjoyed; the latter was a complete disappointment. I agree with the above comments. This was the attempts of an amateur?...
I LOVED THE MOVIE GET A SENSE OF HUMOR NOT EVERYTHING NEEDS THE CRAP ANALYSED OUT OF IT
I wouldn't go to see it if it was the last showing on earth Brendan o Carroll is downright vulgar
Get a sense of humour he is brilliant and like most irish mammys love him
