despite that desperate plea from bobn for more blood and guts in this film, who has clearly missed that it is a 12A! my only question is to go and to see it in 3D or not..? is it worth it?
@deftsounds I'm not usally a fan of 3d but went last night to this in 3d and found it very good, especially the last action scenes in New York. Great movie, I think I'm in love with the Hulk :)
Huge fun, lived up to and exceeded all my expectations. The way the Tanner/Hulk character was handled was especially good, the humour was fantastic (I loved the Hulk v. Loki scene near the end) and it would be hard to find a single fault. Watch out also for a brilliant, tiny cameo appearance from Harry Dean Stanton.
EPIC film! loved every minute of it... didn't even realise how long the film was as it just flew by! the cast are brilliant, Iron man is his usual funny, quirky self, hulk is absolutely hilarious! the comedy is spot on and timed to a 't' to fit in with the different situations perfectly! Loki is not the best baddy (I've definitely seen better and meaner in films) but I think that's part of the comedy and charm of the film, it also focuses on Loki's relationship with his brother Thor. Joss Whedon did amazingly well with everything from the scripting and timing to the comedy and cast! He also does very well to tie cast from other films in to the story, such as Cameron Diaz & Samuel L from Iron man. The action scenes are great and even if you aren't a 3D fan you won't be able to complain about some of the scenes! Already can't wait for the second film to come out!
Incredible hulk fighting an alien monster in mid air. What's not to like? Brilliant entertainment!
cant wait to see it saterday looks unreal
Yeah! It was OK. Quite enjoyed it. Hated the 3D by the way. Didn't work for me at all, quite irritating. However I might (probably not) go back and see it in 2D. There are some terrific moments, the characters are well defined (unusual for an all action movie) and you just gotta hate Loki from the off. My big BUT (No personal remarks please) is that it isn't as good a movie as Iron Man. It IS as good as Iron Man 2 but ... Yep! the special effects were what we expect these days, the plot was a bit crap but hell! I'm being mean... I did enjoy it and if the Blu Ray came out tomorrow I would definitely buy it. Go on, go on, go on, go, on go on,...you know you want to. Go see it for yourself.
This film was amazing!! My hubby and l are massive fans we have eagerly been awaiting its release and we were definitely not disappointed. All star cast, all star comedy and all star action! Fantastic film to start off the summer! There have been two Hulk movies both of which I my opinion were awful, but in this move Mark Ruffalo fills the mighty green mans shoes! An amazing must see film!
Gah! Can't wait!
So far this is my favourite movie this year. Great entertainment, full on action from the start to the end. There are some absolutely laugh out load moments as well. OK the story is nothing new or original but I have to say they did a great job of merging all your favourite Marvel Superheros together with each getting their own piece of the action and some great interactions between them bring out a different side to some. Well worth spending your hard earned money on.
Marvel have gradually been building up to Avengers Assemble. From the first hint at the end of Iron Man, each subsequent film from Marvel has teased us. Now they deliver on their promise by assembling Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Nick Fury, Hawkeye and Black Widow for a film that can simply be described in two words: it rocks. The plot continues the story of Thor's evil half-brother Loki, who is now intent on world domination by leading an alien force to take over the Earth. Only one group stands in its way: the Avengers Initiative. Director and Buffy The Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon tosses a lot of balls in the air with this film, but somehow he manages to not only juggle them but keep them from falling. Each character is given their own individual moment to shine, so no character feels short-changed in the battle of egos and personalities. There are some pacing issues though - the second act onboard S.H.I.E.L.D's flying battleship tends to drag as Nick Fury works on uniting his disparate team. However, the film quickly shifts into fifth gear for a furious finale in and around the New York skyline that makes Battleship look like a playground scrap. Marvel are very clued-in to their audience and it shows. Long may they continue making rousing entertainment like this. Highly recommended.
enjoyed this film. im usually not a fan of this genre but i really likes it, its well written, good story, very well made and funny. brilliant actors too. defo worth the watch!
Really enjoyed this film the mix off chatacters in it makes it more interesting seen this twice so far
Eh you're not going to mention Robert Downey Jr. in the starring section?
for what this film is, its awesome... film makers of the world, take note. This is how you make a superhero film......
A superb film, hugely entertaining, the first time, in a long time, that I've been excited for a film. Couldn't recommend it enough.
3D... really?! cannot wait for it anyway :) eek!
I hate 3D.
4.5 stars - wow this better be good!
saw it last night, one word...amazing!
Saw this yesterday, loads of fun. Everyone was cheering during The Hulks scenes. They really nailed the character this time
Its the most fun ive had in the movies since i was a kid..seen it twice now..immense ,immense stuff..
What a disappointment. This is a superhero movie for children with a script channelled through the spirit of Enid Blyton. During the entire film, in which there is incredible property damage and the centre of New York is virtually destroyed, there are zero civillian casualties. The good guys and the bad guys exchange fire and blows, toss buses and cars about with abandon, never considering the potential for collateral damage. Why? Because it's a movie, you dope, and nobody gets hurt. Except the kinda-roboty aliens. Buildings are smashed and cars fly through the streets of New York. Explosions wreak havok to steel and concrete. But not a single bystander gets killed on film. Despite the apocalyptic destruction not a single dead body is to be seen in the streets and no nasty smears that used to be human decorate the set. This is a movie for children. For a full review go to www.bobneilson.org.
Brilliant film. Two hours of pure action. Loved it in 3D. The special effects were amazing. Young and old alike would like this film - we all love our action heros. Cant wait for Dark Knight to come out.
