Yeah, this was very much by-the-numbers stuff. Nearly everything was signposted well in advance and the ending was laughable. Lawrence consults her mother when picking scripts, so it's unusual for both of them to pick a dud. Then again, maybe she's doing the Michael Caine thing - a jobbing actor just paying the bills?
I really do not like horror films so when I realised after two minutes that this was a horror film, I though of leaving, but I stuck in there, and I was glad that I did, as it is not a full on shock- horror film . It does have the winning ingredients of the typical horror; beautiful girl in danger from some mad things, but what it also has is a great story, which had it being played out without the halloween theme would have made a more interesting story and film. But I suppose having Jennifer Lawrence being chased around in her white vest is more box office really.
Looking at the trailer it smacks of Cloverfield or the Blair Witch Project on speed so "EHH"!! NO THANK YOU
