It's been said many times that pizza can be a lifesaver - but in this case, it actually was.

Cheryl Treadaway, from Avon in Florida, used Pizza Hut delivery app to get help when her abusive boyfriend threatened her and her small child.

The woman ordered a pizza using the app and left a message in the comment sections requesting help.

The boyfriend, Ethan Nickerson, is understood to have been carrying a large knife with him when police arrived.

After a twenty-minute standoff, Nickerson surrendered himself and was put under arrest.

The employees at the local Pizza Hut recognised Cheryl's regular order and, upon seeing the comment which read 'Please help. Get 911 to me', called local police who arrived at her address.

The boyfriend has been charged with aggravated assault.
