In case you'd forgotten, this Wednesday will be marred with an unstoppable slew of pranks as a result of the bizarre holiday that is April Fool's Day.

It's not a real holiday of course, given that it isn't a day off, and depends on people getting pointlessly embarrassed, so on his show last night, John Oliver decided to turn his attention to the hot topic and try and instigate a ban on all pranks.

In the midst of him encouraging us not to partake, he has a quick go at Paddy's Day too, pointing out that April Fool's Day has as much to do with comedy as all the drinking and fighting that happens on our national holiday has to do with being Irish.
