Most of us have sent a text to the wrong person or accidentally sent a tweet that was supposed to be a direct message, but you'd think that surely the lads at the top of Twitter would know better...right?

Well, it turns out that's not the case, as Twitter's Chief Financial Officer Anthony Noto accidentally tweeted that they were looking to take over another company, something that was clearly meant to go to a colleague in a direct message, rather than be broadcast to the world via his feed.

It was taken down fairly quickly, but it was screengrabbed by one f his followers, and has since led to much speculation as to the company that they're looking at, and also that the phrase 'I have a plan' is almost always sinister-sounding. CNBC report that the last tweet favourited by Noto was from Snapchat's Evan Spiegel, while he also followed several people from startup company Mic, leading to speculation that either of those companies are on the shopping list for the microblogging giant.

We know that the employees in Twitter are probably expected to use the service regularly, but surely they must have a more secure way of communicating with each other in-house...like some sort of system to send short, direct messages to one another's phones...
