Last week the world was all abuzz with the news that the iPhone 6 was headed our way, and it seems that hasn't gone unnoticed.
U2 and the folks from Apple took to the stage last week to announce that the new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were headed our way, and while the tech world reacted lukewarmly to the features on show and people gave the Irish rock giants plenty of grief for giving away their album for free, it seems all the showmanship and lights have done their job when it comes to sales.
In just 24 hours, Apple sold 4 million units of the new phones, and that has broken all previous records from the iPhone 5 (way back in 2012) and beyond. In fact, the demand has been so huge that it looks like a few people might miss out.
While the company have said that a "significant" number of people who placed an order will get theirs this Friday, they also want to hold a few on reserve so that the people who have been queuing outside Apple stores for weeks will have a chance to get their hands on the phone in store too.
Those unlucky folks who ordered and won't get one on launch day will have to wait until October, but as Time are reporting, the iPhone 5 models went on to sell 9 million on the opening weekend in the market, while their preorders were only 2 million, so if those numbers are anything to go by, there's going to be a serious amount of the new handsets sold in the coming weeks.
