Jetstar, an Australian airline, has been forced to make an apology after one of their crew members encouraged passengers onboard a flight to flush any drugs they might be holding.

The flight left from the Gold Coast, where many of the passengers were returning from Splendour in the Grass, a music festival that had been taking place in Byron Bay, New South Wales, and were headed back to Sydney airport.

According to The Daily Telegraph in Sydney, a member of the crew made an announcement in advance of the landing, where it was stated that sniffer dogs and quarantine officers would be waiting in the terminal, and that "if you need to dispose of anything you shouldn't have, we suggest you flush it now".

This apparently caused a bit of a rush and queue outside the toilets, as passengers made their way to the cubicles to flush whatever they had clutched in their hands.

The decision to make the announcement has been receiving a bit of criticism as well as some praise, with Jetstar saying that while quarantine announcements were fairly routine, "the crew member's words were poorly chosen and are plainly at odds with the professional standards we'd expect from our team".

Other passengers have commented online that they thought it was a good gesture so that passengers wouldn't be locked up or hit with a huge fine, but either way, it's certainly made some headlines for the airline.
