Cat cafes are all the rage these days, but one couple is hoping that they can go one step further with the opening of a cat cinema.

You'll still be able to get a hot beverage though like most other cat cafes, but you'll also be able to sit back "with a cuppa, a cake, a cat on your lap" and catch a movie at the revolutionary new vision for the future of cinema, the Great Kitten. Yes, they resisted the temptation to call it The Cinemeow, which takes admirable self control.

It will be the world's first cat cinema and café (how come no one thought of this before, we hear you ask...) and they plan to adopt 10 rescue cats who will be pottering about the cinema. Given that petting a cat is great for your stress levels, they reckon that this will be a real help to the over-stressed people of London, where they plan to open their doors to the public, provided they can raise enough money through crowdfunding.

Paula Siedlecka and William Piper, the couple behind the project, argue that the existing cat cafés in the country don't do enough to give back to their local communities, so they plan to work with animal shelters to help rehome cats, as well bringing in "children and adults with mental health issues (depression, anxiety, mood, eating and stress disorders), physical, mental and general learning disabilities (autism, Down's syndrome, ADHD, Asperger’s and others) andlife-threatening or terminal illnesses (cancer patients, heart disease, brain tumors and others)" to spend time with the animals at least once a week.

If you donate £15 (€20) you'll get tickets for two, a cuppa and some cat time, £100  (€136) will allow you to curate your own film season with your favourite movies, while £150 (€204) will treat 10 kids or adults suffering from mental health problems or illnesses to time with the cats, as well as a cup of tea and some cake. The top donation of £5,000 (€6,791) will give a cause of your choice access to the Great Kitten for life, and you'll get a VIP pass too.

At time of writing they've only managed to raise just over £2,000 of their £55,000 goal, so there's still time to get in on the ground floor in this interesting investment oppurrtunity.
