Life imitating art...

A discovery of a new species, made by a team at the Costa Rican Amphibian Research Centre, has caught the world's attention, as the previously unknown frog that they came across is distinctly familiar looking.

In fact, you might say he bears a striking resemblance to what is arguably the world's most famous frog, Kermit, and the internet seems to think that's the case anyway.

It seems that this new creature, discovered by Dr. Brian Kubicki and named Diane's Bare-hearted Glassfrog, remained hidden for so long thanks to the fact that its call sounds closer to that of an insect than it does a frog, and so had escaped the attention of researchers. While the clear underbelly that shows off the frog's organs is certainly an interesting point, most of the focus has been on the eyes.

We await the memes that will surely flood in once the photoshop experts of the internet get their hands on images of the frog.
