We've all got that one person on our Facebook feed who constantly posts pseduo-intellectual inspirational quotes.

"The only thing stopping you... is you."

"Be The Best Version Of You."

"Every Little Helps."

That last one is Tesco. Anyway, these trite little turds of inspiration are clogging up our Facebook feeds and, finally, we have verifiable proof that people who share them on a daily basis are dumbasses.

A study conducted by the University of Waterloo in Canada tested 300 participants and showed them several made-up and illogical inspirational quotes. They were then asked if they found them profound, inspiring or just plain stupid.

Unsurprisingly, the results showed that those who found things like "Hidden meaning transforms unparalleled abstract beauty" profound or inspirational were basically idiots.

The study, titled 'On the reception and detection pseudo-profound bullshit' found that "those more receptive to bullshit are less reflective, lower in cognitive ability (i.e., verbal and fluid intelligence, numeracy), are more prone to ontological confusions and conspiratorial ideation, are more likely to hold religious and paranormal beliefs, and are more likely to endorse complementary and alternative medicine."

Like we said, dumbasses.

You knew it. We knew it. And now, there's proof.
