Just as you thought that we were through the worst of it, there's more snow and ice on the way.

Don't put away your gloves and scarves just yet, as Met Éireann are warning that more cold weather, including snow, is on the way this week. While the mild conditions of the last few days will stick around at the start of the week, accompanied by drizzle and rain, things will take a turn for the worse by Wednesday.

They warn that from Wednesday night onwards, it will be "bitterly cold as a strong and blustery Northwest airflow becomes established over the country". That means that there will be strong winds and "frequent wintry showers giving falls of sleet and snow", which is likely to stick.

The North and West will be the areas worst affected by the snowfall, where there could be accumulations of up to several centimetres. Those conditions will continue into the weekend also, with warnings of severe frost and icy conditions on the roads.
