The last couple of years have seen the rise of top-class TV series commissioned by independent streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon; shows like Orange is the New Black and Narcos in particular have done extremely well.

Now, it seems that Jay Z's TIDAL service is moving into the same area by commissioning original scripted and unscripted programming, less than a year since its launch.

Although the subscription service already hosts numerous short films, The Hollywood Reporter says that 'No Small Talk' - a stand-up comedy show hosted by DJ Cipha Sounds - is amongst their acquisitions, as well as the second series of YouTube drama 'Money & Violence'.

The former will see three rising stars on the comedy scene profiled per episode at the Comedy Cellar in Manhattan, while the second series of the latter will be available exclusively on TIDAL in January.
