Fancy getting paid to work for a charity of your choice for a year?

If you've ever wanted to go and work for your favourite charity but never found the right time in your career? Or do you want to make a career move that can really make a difference?

The Vodafone Ireland Foundation is offering four exceptional people the opportunity to work for a youth charity of their choice for one year complete with a €40,000 salary paid for by the foundation. Journalist Róisín Ingle and broadcaster Ray D’Arcy are among the judges and the successful applicants will be encouraged to take up their new positions before the end of the year.

Now in its eighth year, this unique programme is designed to give people the opportunity to answer their true calling while also contributing to the development of charities that support the young people of Ireland. Launching the call for applications, Natalie Hodgess, Vodafone Ireland Foundation Manager, said “We are delighted to be able to run this programme this year. We know charities need help now more than ever, and the programme offers a really tangible support to charities that have had to let staff go in the recent economic downturn. We have seen the lasting impact this programme has had on the charities that have been successful in the past and we are looking forward to finding four new inspiring individuals and charities that can answer their true calling and make a real difference through their career.”

Since 2007 the Vodafone Ireland Foundation has provided over €1million for selected charities and has given 65 people the opportunity to dedicate their time to a cause close to their hearts through the World of Difference programme. Past World of Difference winners have come from a diverse background of sectors including retail, IT, medical, communications, education, sport and finance. Winners have been recent graduates as well as senior executives with more than 25 years of experience. They have helped a wide range of organisations such as Irish Men’s Sheds Association, MS Ireland, St. John of God Menni Services, Pieta House, the Rise Foundation and Soar.
