An American woman who recently moved to Ireland is hoping that social media can help her to find the man who stole her heart recently when the Scottish football team visited Ireland for the European qualifying fixture in the Aviva Stadium.

Tammy Contreraz wasn't long in Ireland before she had to travel to Dublin for work, and headed up to the capital for a whiskey tasting event on the same day as the big match. She had agreed to meet a client beforehand, and as she was stepping out of a taxi, a "hunk" of a Scottish fan offered her a hand.

The two shared a kiss, and he asked for her phone number, but she never received a call from the man, who she believes is called Mike. Tammy thinks that it may have been as a result of the fact that she can't receive international calls.

Speaking to The Daily Record, Tammy said that as she "arrived outside the Palace Bar in a cab, there were just kilts everywhere – which is a rare sight for an American. As I was paying the driver, I saw two kilts outside, so I called to the men that they could have my cab. But as I then moved to the door, a hand reached out and helped me out the cab and I came face-to-face with this man who turned to me and said, ‘God, you’re beautiful’." Romance, wha?

The Tartan Army "hunk" took her number and the two arranged to meet after the match, but she hasn't heard from him and now worries that he thinks she gave him a fake number. Harnessing the power of social media, Tammy hopes to find Mike (who she admits could have been called Mick, it was a pretty thick accent) through Facebook and Twitter, describing herself as "the girl with the plaid purple, blue and pink shirt and straight black hair with purple streaks", while he is a tall Scot in very good shape, and was friends with a Scotsman with red hair. That should narrow it down...
