An Australian man who was going to Sydney's Stereosonic festival was so desperate to smuggle drugs in that he drilled a hole in a wall on the festival grounds in order to stash some pills.

Unfortunately for him, the 22-year-old was caught red-handed as police were called after reported of a man 'damaging a building with a drill'. When police searched his home, they found 10 pills.

He and his 21-year-old friend - who went back a few days later to try again - had been attempting to stash MDMA pills in various locations around the festival site in advance of the barriers going up for the EDM festival, which takes place this Saturday at Sydney's Olympic Park.  After reports of a man 'acting suspiciously' in the area, police arrived and later found 95 pills in his vehicle.

And it's not the first time that it's happened, either; NSW Inspector Chris Laid said: "We know this happens so we've been regularly sweeping the area with drugs dogs over the last few days to make sure we find stuff before the park is fully locked down."

So top marks for sheer brazenness, lads, but 0 points for subtlety.

And they've been banned from the Olympic Park, too - so they won't even get to go to the festival, which is headlined by the likes of Diplo, Armin van Buuren and Major Lazer.
